This is an adventure program! This travelling, adventure and voluntary program is tailored for young people who want to experience and learn about Africa. You get it all – Tanzania’s nature and wildlife, tribe culture, the language and an introduction to the continent's long history.
Week 1- 2: Arrival at Dar es Salaam city and transfer to the base camp located at Mbezi beach. During your first week you get to know the area and learn basic terms in the Swahili language. During your second week you will go on safari in the Ruaha Game Reserve, see animals in their natural habitat and do community work in Dar es Salaam.
Week 3: During your third week, you will work in community schools and visit the Coral Islands at the Dar es Salaam marine park.
Week 4-7: During your next three weeks you will volunteer in community schools (kindergarten, primary and secondary level) and spend three days cambing by the beach. Participants visit the famous Makonde tribe shopping village to find paintings and handcrafts before heading to Arusha.
Week 8-11: Arusha is a vibrant colourful city in Masai land. Our partner runs vocational training programs for the Masai in the arts, languages and health care. Live with the Masai and learn about their unique culture, natural herbs, cattle keeping, dances and more. A safari trip N´gorongoro crater is also organised.
Week 12: The last week is spent in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, where you visit its famous white beaches and Stone Town, the old and cultural centre of Zanzibar. Soak up the local culture, spices and fruits before it's time to farewell your host community and many new friends you've made during the trip.
Tanzania has around 32 million inhabitants with 120 different tribes, all with their own language and traditions. The main language is Kiswahili but in most towns and in tourist areas people speak English.
