The Program

After one, four or eight weeks of intensive Spanish private lessons of approximately 20 hours per week, you will begin your volunteer project. Everything will have been organised before your arrival according to your interests and availabilities. You will be able to help in orphanages, schools, libraries, local branches of an international NGO, projects of native plant rehabilitation.
In order to complete a successful program you must be able to show a lot of flexibility and humility. The purpose of volunteering is to give something to others without asking for anything in return except the satisfaction of having accomplished an important mission. Participants must be 18+.

Accommodation

The best way to experience a country from the inside, with its customs and culture, is to share the life of a local family. You will be living with a host family (individual room and 3 meals a day except on Sundays) throughout the whole stay.

The Country

Guatemala counts more than eight million inhabitants of which the capital is Guatemala City. Spanish classes are given at Antigua, a small city (former capital of the country) that preserves its authentic charm but offers quality facilities for backpackers and volunteers from all over the world.

Start Dates

If you have no Spanish skills:

• 12 to 24 weeks (8 weeks of classes + 4 to 16 weeks of volunteering)

If you some basics of Spanish language:
• 8 to 24 weeks (4 weeks of classes and 4 to 20 weeks of volunteering).

If you have a high level of Spanish:
• 5 or 9 weeks (1 week of classes followed by 4 to 8 weeks of volunteering).

The program can be attended anytime of the year.

Suitability

• Able to face difficult social conditions
• Good physical and mental conditions
• Awareness that security as well as political stability are lower than in our country

Financial Conditions

Included: administration fees in home country and in Guatemala, one to eight weeks of language courses depending on the option chosen, accommodation with a family, meals (full-board, except on Sunday’s), transfer upon arrival, placement in the volunteer project, local assistance

Not included: plane ticket, local transport, pocket money, passport fees, medical insurance (mandatory)
